My SPIEL Essen routine?
8 a.m. at the convention. 7 p.m. leaving the halls.
And thenโฆ straight back to the hostel to โworkโ โ uploading new games, updating listings, and sorting everything for Spielradar.
Although today, you couldnโt really call it work.
Because I met @bagirimana โ and he told me all about his Kickstarter project (Davos) .
Heโs full of passion and determination, and honestly, these encounters are what make SPIEL so special for me.
Every year Iโm surprised, not only by what happens during the convention,
but also after:

๐ฝ๏ธ Great dinners with the colleagues from Itten๐ก Or meeting someone like Marti in your hostel โ aka think tank, aka start-up Valley
Martiโs game is still on Kickstarter โ itโs fun, sharp, and has a social twist, critiquing what happens behind the scenes at the famous (or not so famous) Davos conventions.

Nur โ heute konnte man das kaum Arbeit nennen.
Denn ich habe Marti kennengelernt โ und er hat mir von seinem Kickstarter-Projekt erzรคhlt (Davos) .
So viel Leidenschaft, so viel Entschlossenheit! Genau solche Begegnungen machen fรผr mich die SPIEL so besonders.

Some of you might know my old shop, Aroshops. It gave me so muchโbut letโs be honest, the name wasnโt exactly easy to remember (โArodrops? Arfolops?โ ๐คทโโ๏ธ).
So here we are: Spielradar. A place to find games you wonโt see anywhere else. Indie gems. Rare imports. The kind of titles Iโve been hauling boxes for at conventions for years.
This isnโt a start from zero, itโs a continuation. A chapter Iโm excited to share with you.

Spielradar didnโt start as Spielradar - it evolved from Aroshops, our first venture into bringing indie board games to a wider audience. While Aroshops will always hold a special place in our hearts, we realized that Spielradar is a name thatโs easier to remember and better reflects our mission for the future.
Our Foundation – Aroshops
Our first online shop, built with the same goal: helping small publishers get their games into the hands of players. Every lesson we learned from Aroshops shaped what Spielradar is today.
First Asian Publisher โ Origame (Singapore)
Partnering with Origame marked a new chapter in Spielradarโs journey. Their culturally rich titles like Kopi King and Wok and Roll bring everyday Asian stories to the tableโexactly the kind of hidden gems we want to make accessible for players in Europe.
First Essen Spiel Convention
Attending Essen Spiel, the worldโs biggest board game convention, was an eye-opener. Meeting publishers face-to-face changed everything – itโs not just about sending emails and negotiating prices, itโs about understanding the passion and creativity behind every game. Ever since, Essen Spiel has been a yearly tradition for us. Now I also attend many other conventions and events.
The Birth of Spielradar
With Spielradar, we set out to do more than just sell games. We wanted to make rare, indie, and international board games accessible to a larger audience – and thanks to our incredible community, weโre making that vision a reality.
