🇬🇧 ENGLISHMy SPIEL Essen routine?
8 a.m. at the convention. 7 p.m. leaving the halls.
And then… straight back to the hostel to “work” — uploading new games, updating listings, and sorting everything for Spielradar.Although today, you couldn’t really call it work.Because I met @bagirimana — and he told me all about his Kickstarter project (Davos) .
He’s full of passion and determination, and honestly, these encounters are what make SPIEL so special for me.Every year I’m surprised, not only by what happens during the convention,
but also after:
🎲 Playing games in a pub with people you just met
🍽️ Great dinners with the colleagues from Itten💡 Or meeting someone like Marti in your hostel — aka think tank, aka start-up ValleyMarti’s game is still on Kickstarter — it’s fun, sharp, and has a social twist, critiquing what happens behind the scenes at the famous (or not so famous) Davos conventions.📸 Here’s a picture of the two of us, brainstorming in the hostel — exactly where ideas (and friendship) start.#SPIEL2025 #EssenSpiel #BoardGameCommunity #KickstarterGames #BoardGameDesign #BoardGames #TabletopGames #IndieBoardGames #BoardGameLife #Spielradar🇩🇪 DEUTSCHMeine SPIEL-Essen-Routine?

Sounds depressing? To me, it feels like freedom. No stage lights, just me and a new chapter: Spielradar ✨Some of you might know my old shop, Aroshops. It gave me so much—but let’s be honest, the name wasn’t exactly easy to remember (“Arodrops? Arfolops?” 🤷‍♂️).So here we are: Spielradar. A place to find games you won’t see anywhere else. Indie gems. Rare imports. The kind of titles I’ve been hauling boxes for at conventions for years. This isn’t a start from zero, it’s a continuation. A chapter I’m excited to share with you.👉 What do you think of the name Spielradar? Drop a comment—you might be the first one ever.
👉 And if you’re curious: follow here, subscribe on the website, or watch out for TikTok soon.Let’s see where this journey takes us 🚀#BoardGames #TabletopGames #BoardGameCommunity #BoardGameGeek #BoardGameLife

History Timeline

Spielradar didn’t start as Spielradar - it evolved from Aroshops, our first venture into bringing indie board games to a wider audience. While Aroshops will always hold a special place in our hearts, we realized that Spielradar is a name that’s easier to remember and better reflects our mission for the future.

Our Foundation – Aroshops

Our first online shop, built with the same goal: helping small publishers get their games into the hands of players. Every lesson we learned from Aroshops shaped what Spielradar is today.

First Asian Publisher – Origame (Singapore)

Partnering with Origame marked a new chapter in Spielradar’s journey. Their culturally rich titles like Kopi King and Wok and Roll bring everyday Asian stories to the table—exactly the kind of hidden gems we want to make accessible for players in Europe.

First Essen Spiel Convention

Attending Essen Spiel, the world’s biggest board game convention, was an eye-opener. Meeting publishers face-to-face changed everything – it’s not just about sending emails and negotiating prices, it’s about understanding the passion and creativity behind every game. Ever since, Essen Spiel has been a yearly tradition for us. Now I also attend many other conventions and events.

The Birth of Spielradar

With Spielradar, we set out to do more than just sell games. We wanted to make rare, indie, and international board games accessible to a larger audience – and thanks to our incredible community, we’re making that vision a reality.

How We Select Our Games?

With so many games out there, we focus on those that truly stand out.
Here’s what we look for.

Knowing the Publisher

We prioritize working with publishers and designers we know personally. Understanding their creative vision helps us select authentic, high-quality games that stand out.

Unique Games

We focus on board games with originality - whether through innovative mechanics, rich storytelling, or a fresh design approach. It’s not just about rarity; it’s about games that offer something different and memorable.

1000s Seller

We don’t stock mass-market hits. If a game is already widely available in Germany, you probably won’t find it here. Instead, we specialize in exclusive, niche, and under-the-radar games that bring something new to your collection.
