Simple rules. Infinite depth. Garden is a beautifully minimalist 2-player abstract strategy game — a modern classic designed by Andy Mijnlieff that plays in just 10 minutes and rewards every replay with new discoveries.
In Garden, players take turns placing tiles on a 4×4 grid. Each tile dictates where your opponent must play next — pushing them towards squares that benefit you. The twist: every piece gives your opponent a constraint AND creates an opportunity. Mastering Garden means thinking three moves ahead while appearing to hand your opponent a gift.
- 🌸 Elegant abstract strategy — designed by Andy Mijnlieff
- 🧠 Deep positional play — every move limits and enables simultaneously
- ⚡ 10 minutes — fast, sharp, always "one more game"
- 👥 2 players, ages 6+ — easy to learn, years to master
Garden belongs in the same conversation as Hive, Azul, and Onitama — abstract games that seem simple until you sit down and realise how deep the rabbit hole goes. View on BoardGameGeek
