The medieval-fantasy city of Greylune is built from cards, and your workers slot between them rather than onto them, so each villager sits poised between two options at once. Timing the retrieval is the whole game: pull too early and you leave value on the table, wait too long and a rival takes the card you were angling for. Gather resources, recruit companions, buy equipment and head out on quests, then come back to the taverns with a story worth telling.
