Product Description:
Your pond awaits — and it’s surprisingly demanding. Pondscape is a quiet, focused tableau-building card game for 1–4 players from Pink Troubadour, designed by Tomáš Holek. Over 15 rounds, you’ll construct a personal 3×5 grid of frogs, habitats, water, and food — a small ecosystem where every card placement matters.
It’s a nature game without grand ambitions: you’re not saving the world, just building a peaceful pond. But the tight grid, stingy hand size, and unforgiving placement rules mean that “peaceful” is relative. Early decisions echo through the rest of the game, and when everything clicks together, it’s deeply satisfying.
How to Play
Each round, choose one of three face-up cards from the shared display and add it to your hand. Cards with a movement value advance the shared Jumping Frog along a central row of food cards — a clever communal mechanism that rewards timing. Then place one card from your hand into your pond, either face-up for its frog or habitat effect, or face-down as water for an immediate bonus.
Once placed, cards never move. That permanence makes every turn feel meaningful. Small trigger effects — draw a card, move the frog, gain food — add rhythm to your turns without overcomplicating the flow. Scoring rewards groups of frogs that meet specific conditions, the food your jumping frog collects, and how well your habitats support their inhabitants.
